Seattle Center Summer Fitness returns with free yoga and zumba classes


The Seattle Center offers free outdoor fitness sessions in the late morning and early evening, Wednesday, July 7 through September 7. 8, at the Seattle Center.

Gentle yoga and zumba classes offer easy-to-follow instructions and movements, where participants can stretch, strengthen, relax, and enjoy a fun, full-body workout. Weekly classes are open to all ages and abilities, and there are no enrollment requirements.

Here are the summer fitness options:

Gentle yoga, 11:30 am-12:30pm, Pelouse Exhibition Hall. The vinyasa flow yoga class allows participants to cultivate physical and mental space through breathing and postures that strengthen and release tension. The sessions focus on fluid movements to increase range of motion and flexibility in joints and muscles. Beginners learn the basics of this style of yoga and all will enjoy the gentle workout. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat and towel.

Zumba Class, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Fisher Pavilion Roof, invites participants to join in an energetic hour-long workout night that uses simple choreography to take them on a dance journey around the world through Latin , rhythms from around the world, West Africa, belly dancing, pop and classic rock. No dance experience is required. Bring plenty of water and wear comfortable sneakers.

Unvaccinated participants at Summer Fitness are encouraged to follow the rules for wearing an outside mask and physical distancing, and everyone should wear a mask inside buildings operated by the Seattle Center.
