Learn a new skill set with these fun local classes

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Looking for something to fill your day during the school year?

Now that the kids are back to school, this is the perfect opportunity for you to learn a new skill too!

At local community colleges, several non-credit courses are available either for free or for a small fee. The class can teach you new skills, from auto service and belly dancing to music.

Here are some interesting no-credit courses to check out locally:

Beginning of the upholstery (MiraCosta College): Learn the craft of upholstery in this hands-on course that focuses on the basics, techniques, and terminology of upholstery. Students will learn how to properly plan and complete an upholstery project, perfect for beginners or DIY enthusiasts. Students can even bring their own personal projects to class to work on.

Beginner Ukulele (MiraCosta College): Experience the ‘uke’ in a beginner’s course, where students will learn the basics of ukulele tuning and skills.

Start belly dancing (San Diego Continuing Education): Learn basic oriental dance skills, including techniques, posture, shimmies, educations, and moving steps. No previous dance experience is required!

Community emergency response team training (Palomar College): Students will learn disaster preparedness for hazards that could impact their area, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and medical operations in the event of a disaster. disaster.

Arts and music (Continuing Education in San Diego): Students study a variety of artistic and / or musical subjects, from appreciation to application. Students can expect to explore, perform, or create first-hand artistic and musical experiences.

Watercolor and more (MiraCosta College): All skill levels are welcome to explore their art and learn how to have fun reducing stress at watercolor painting. Students will learn simple techniques and skills to create their own masterpiece.
