First week of spring classes at the Cornerstone Center for the Arts
Step into the New Year through artistic discovery and creation at the Cornerstone Center for the Arts! Cornerstone offers a wide variety of art classes, workshops and camps to suit all artistic interests. With the new year also come new classes! Thanks to the support of the community in the Muncie region, we are extending our education program to weekends. The twelve week session will begin the week of February 2 and run through May 2, followed by our spring celebration. Various workshops and one-off camps will also be offered throughout the spring. Registrations are now open for classes for youth and adults in visual arts, dance, theater, music, martial arts, fitness and more!
Cornerstone Youth and Youth Classes are aimed at children aged 1-18. Dance classes include: Creative movement; Premier Ballet I, II and III; Start Tap I & II; Early Hip Hop Jazz I & II; Old musical theater; Youth ballet; Faucet for young people; Youth musical theater; Lyrical & Modern Youth; Hip-hop for young people; Irish dance for young people; and Hip Hop for boys from 5 to 9 years old and from 10 to 14 years old. Music lessons include: Music for Munchkins for ages 2-3 and 4-5. Visual arts courses include: preschool art; First elementary art; Creative arts of youth; Youth graffiti and urban arts; Youth ceramic; Fundamentals of art; Youth watercolor; Manga and cartoon drawing for young people. Discover our brand new courses offered this season: Make & Paint; and digital drawing and painting.
For teens and adults of all ages, Cornerstone will offer a variety of weekly classes. For students interested in dancing, consider: Adult Ballet Nonperformance I & II; Ballet show for adults I; Adult tap I & II; Adult Contemporary & Jazz; Bollywood; Belly dance 101; Intermediate belly dance exercises and choreography; Advanced belly dance technique and choreography; Troupe of oriental dance students; Irish stage beginner; Soft Irish step dance shoe technique; Irish dance troupe; Adult hip-hop; Contemporary and hip-hop fusion; and visual arts classes for the spring include: ceramics for adults; Graffiti for adults and urban arts; Drawing from life; Mixed media arts; Fluid art; The basics of watercolor; Advanced watercolor; Painting for adults; Drawing of manga and comics for adults; Creative arts for young adults; Creative arts for adults; Mixed media painting; and landscape painting. We are pleased to present our brand new adult courses to you: Adult Heels 18+; Musical theater for adults; and Exploring the Art of 18+ Burlesque Movement.
Cornerstone’s Martial Arts program is perfect for students who want to learn self defense while having fun. For martial arts lessons, consider: new students in lower belts (white belts); Students returning from lower belts (yellow belts); Returning students from middle belts; Students returning from higher belts; and USA Combat Jujitsu for new and old students.
Our fitness classes for young people, adolescents and adults are designed to sweat, calm the mind and move your body. For fitness classes check out: Basic Yoga, Core Yoga, Hip Hop Dance Aerobics, and Zumba.
Cornerstone offers classes for all ages, so the whole family can participate; Family Ceramics, Printmaking and All Things Fairy will surely bring a smile every week.
Cornerstone also offers year-round private lessons in bass, bass guitar, cello, drums, guitar, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, ukulele, viola, violin and voice. Private lessons meet once a week one-on-one with an instructor. The availability of private lessons depends on the instructor’s schedule.
In addition to the weekly classes, Cornerstone will be offering a series of one-off workshops in late spring and summer. Discover A Feeling of Justice: The Civil Rights Movement in Indiana, In the Thick of the Fray: Indiana Suffragists and the Battle for the Ballot, & Bad Art Night.
Cornerstone Spring Break Arts Camp will meet March 23-25 ââto introduce students ages 7-14 to visual arts, dance, drama, music, martial arts and more.
Cornerstone offers financial aid scholarships to young people and adults who qualify. Financial aid applications are available online or in person at the Cornerstone second floor office.
