So, to celebrate this beautiful art form, International Dance Day is celebrated on April 29 to encourage people around the world to cherish each other’s dance forms. It was introduced in 1982, by the International Dance Council.

Well, dancing is not just an art form, it is extremely beneficial to our overall health because 30 minutes of dance class is equivalent to a jogging session. Once you incorporate dance into your life, you will realize that it not only allows us to enjoy the rhythm of our body, but also has many health benefits. So, while celebrating International Dance Day, we have listed some dance forms along with their health benefits:

Originating in the United States in the early 19th century, tap dancing is not just a form of dance but a cardiovascular activity. It helps tone the legs and build muscle strength, especially in the thighs, quadriceps and calves.

Belly dance

Also known as oriental dance, belly dancing has its roots in Egypt. While tap dancing helps you tone your legs, belly dancing helps tone your whole body and muscles. As this dance form requires your arms to be in the air longer, it strengthens them.

This classical Indian dance form not only increases your stamina, flexibility, and balance, but it results in a healthy heart, improves concentration, and builds stamina. Due to the need for complex movement in the dance form, it stimulates your blood circulation and keeps your weight under control.

The history of this elegant dance form begins around 1500 in Italy. Ballet not only improves posture, but strengthens muscles, promotes bone health and burns calories.
