Courts now grant cash loans
COURTS is known for its furniture and appliances, but recently entered the financial services industry by offering cash loans to clients.
That’s the word of Unicomer (Caribbean) Ltd Managing Director Errol Le Blanc during a networking session at TT Group Headquarters, 1 Courts Way, Calcutta Settlement, Freeport on June 26.
Courts is a member of the Unicomer group of companies, which also includes Lucky Dollar and Servitech. In a PowerPoint presentation, Le Blanc described Courts as an “integrated retailer” that now offers cash loans as an alternative way to generate income.
“In 2018, we started to implement the Courts Ready Cash brand. The Courts Ready Cash brand mainly offers cash loans. He said loans are now one of the main sources of income for the group and that he has cash lending stores in Jamaica and Belize. Cash loans are also available at Courts stores.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, Le Blanc said the cash loans are an extension of the credit facility available to customers. “If you want to borrow money from the courts, that’s no problem: you can go to one of our stores and you can get a loan of money up to $ 30,000.
He stated that the customers who use the facility are primarily traditional hire purchase customers. The group has also entered the optical sector with the introduction of Courts Optical.
“Courts Optical is a new brand for us. Our optics brand opened in the last four or five years and we have been successful in achieving market share among teens, and we are working hard in the countries where we operate.
He said a “highly efficient and modernized” eye laboratory had been set up in Guatemala to support stores in the Caribbean and Central America. “It will be highly modernized and will be one of the best technology labs in the region. We hope this will help us increase our efficiency and serve our customers. “
Clive Fletcher, Managing Director of Unicomer (Trinidad) Ltd, also addressed the networking session, who said there were 48 stores scattered across the country with more than 955 employees. three years.
Fletcher said the group has also implemented several firsts in TT, including the soon-to-be-released Emma smartphone app. “Emma is an application that is now at the prototype stage. We’re currently testing it in the Freeport store and the app is going to essentially revolutionize the way people can interact with our credit facilities – you can sit at your home and apply.
