the The news here is not that consummate actor Bob-Manuel Udokwu has just been appointed Special Adviser on Entertainment, Leisure and Tourism by Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
The fact is that a day before the nomination was announced in August, the likeable actor had gathered his friends and family at Mr Smith’s appointment in Awka, Anambra State, and had danced heartily during the double celebration of his birthday and his elevation to the rank of esteemed knight of the Anglican Communion by Archbishop Alexander Ibezim.
Bob-Manuel Udokwu’s two-part anniversary and knighthood celebration was anchored on the top floor of the exquisite Mr. Smith by emcees Sacramento and Shedrack.
As the irrepressible actor that he is, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, when asked to come on stage to dance, insisted on entering through the door and dancing through and in front of the seated audience before beautify the stage with her mesmerizing dance moves.
Bob-Manuel’s dramatic entrance brought the entire audience onto the stage in a frenzy of money-spraying and ennobling camaraderie.
Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Felix Odimegwu, popularly hailed as Omus, was a sight to behold as he shared the joy of the poetically twirling Bob-Manuel.
The new Commissioner for Special Duties, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa was very pleased with the celebrant.
Managing Director/CEO/Editor Sir Chuka Nnabuife of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, publishers of National Light, Ka O Di Taa and SportLight, has added intellectual water to Bob-Manuel Udokwu’s communal mill.
Signage and advertising guru Sir Jude Emecheta mingled with the acting fraternity that included Igwe’s wife from the iconic film, Living in Bondage, which Bob-Manuel Udokwu starred in.
Ace footballer Arthur Ebunam of the 1977 CKC Onitsha Schools World Cup winning team, Rangers International and the Green Eagles, was together with his close friend Fabule.
While cutting the birthday cake, Bob-Manuel responded to the song “How old are you now?” with his own song which went like this: “I’m for many, many years today!”
Trained in the performing arts at the University of Port Harcourt under the tutelage of ace director Prof. Ola Rotimi, Bob-Manuel Udokwu has since added a master’s degree in political science, specializing in international relations, to his list.
Like the archetypal Greek author and epic poet Homer, Bob-Manuel Udokwu embodies grace in delivery. He is a class act as a committed comedian.
At the dual celebration of knighthood and Bob-Manuel’s birthday, there was enough whiskey, cognac, beer and choice wines for everyone.
It was the kind of big party that heralded the sobriquet “Rice & Stew Very Plenty (RSVP)”! The swallows, agidi and peppersoup were spinning with aplomb.
Let’s now toast to the great health of Bob-Manuel Udokwu because, the day after the party, the announcement was made that he had been appointed special adviser on entertainment, recreation and tourism by the governor of the State of Anambra, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
Bob-Manuel Udokwu always deserves to be celebrated as a gift from Anambra State, the light of the nation.
